The Blue Bathroom, on the main floor was one shared by family, guests and the Chiles house staff. There are two doors into the bathroom. One from the staff bedroom and one from the hallway – right next to each other. The hall entry door has one of the ornate sets of door hardware while the staff bedroom entrance has a simpler knob.
There were many broken tiles or ones with superfluous bars, knobs and hooks over the years. We wanted to fix this tile but it took us a year and half just to find a company that could accurately recreate the tile. In the end we had to buy over 2,000 tiles to replace 30. But it was worth it.
